Pastor Brady used the familiar account of Zacchaeus to illustrate what a “true disciple” looks like. Zacchaeus was rich, corrupt, and hated, yet he was desperate enough to climb a tree just to glimpse Jesus. Jesus, in turn, shocked the crowd by inviting Himself to Zacchaeus’ house before Zacchaeus had done a single thing to clean up his life. That scandalous order—grace first, transformation second—broke money’s spell over Zacchaeus and produced radical restitution and generosity. The message pressed listeners to examine whether Jesus’ grace has produced similar fruit in them, especially in how they handle their time, abilities, and money. Generosity, the pastor insisted, is the dashboard light that reveals whether Christ truly rules the heart.
