From Blessing to Gladness

Psalm 67 stands in the very center of the biblical story. It takes us back to God’s promise to bless Abraham, echoes the priestly blessing of Numbers 6, and points forward to the day when all peoples worship before the throne in Revelation 21. The psalm shows a clear movement: 1. God's gracious face shines on His people; 2. That blessing is meant to make His ways known among all nations; 3. The result is worldwide, joy-filled worship; 4. Ultimately the whole earth lives in reverent awe of Him. In Christ those promises reach their peak: at the Feast of Tabernacles Jesus announced that living water would flow from everyone who believes in Him, turning the mission from “come and see” to “go and tell.”  Indwelt by the Holy Spirit, every believer now carries God’s presence outward so that people near and far may share our joy.
